By this point in my journey, most of the annoying people who want to make a profit off of me have disappeared, but a few of the more persistent ones remain.
Lol. One would-be beta tester left me this message: “What are now you searching for?” This was after I had explained last week and the week before that I do not need any beta readers. What I need are readers who are willing to read the book (for free) and review it. This person who wants to be my personal beta tester is not taking no for an answer.
The entire book publishing industry is more racket and noise than it is an avenue for authors to share their work and get paid for the service. It isn’t unlike a college graduate seeking a job. No experience means no job, and yet no job means no experience. Likewise, no readers means no followers, and yet, no followers means no readers. It’s a catch-22 that equates to no sales and no profits.
As my mom would say, “You can’t get more juice from a turnip.” And folks, my turnip is dry. “Sorry, not sorry,” my would-be beta reader, but I cannot afford to pay you. With my dry pocketbook, I am trying to maneuver the noisy system and praying I get a lucky break.
In the meantime, I will have to keep turning people away nicely because that is who I am. Although on the inside, the snarky side of me wants to tell the person who phrases sentences as poorly as Yoda, “I will not be seeking grammatical assistance from you.”
