This week I learned about the concept of soft selling. I’m not going to say that I was completely oblivious to the concept, only more that I didn’t know it had a name and a few guidelines to qualify. And if you are a new indie author and you are trying to figure out how to market your book on less than a dime, this is a phrase that you should know.
How did I find out about it? Where does all of the world’s intellectual information come from these days? TikTok. That’s right. A publicist for authors showed up on my TikTok feed and explained things to me. Her instructions were to the point, and she had several of them. So, if you are feeling stuck and are looking for inspiration, go to TikTok and search “soft selling” and see what comes up.
How is this affecting my sales? I’ve just started, so I’m not discouraged. I’m still in the stages where 1 sale is celebrated. And I always stay that way! Not because I want my book to do poorly! (I don’t need that put out in the universe.) I want to always be grateful, to never take even one buyer for granted.
So, friends, as I try to find something inspirational every day that I am taking this journey into understanding the book market, thank you for joining me and making the process more enjoyable.
