Finding ARC er… RC readers

For the last few weeks I’ve been trying to build my brand on TikTok. I’ve gotten some great counseling from some TikTokers who are social media experts. I’ve found that getting views on TilTok, while not easy, I am better at navigating than FaceBook. You could have knocked me down with a feather because I have never been on TikTok and I’ e been on FB for years.

With the building of my brand, I decided to put out a plea for ARC readers—which because the book is already available, I call them RC readers. Unlike FB, where everyone wanted to get paid for the privilege, the TT community rallied with support. Quite frankly, I was blown away.

For those who are looking for advice on what to do with publishing a book, get more readers before you release the book. In other words, do the opposite of what I did and find ARC readers and not RC ones. I tried to do this by relying on family and friends, but everyone was too busy. The concept of asking people to read it for free didn’t occur to me until I had already hit the publish button on Amazon. That was a cat that I couldn’t put back in the bag.

Now there are 25+ people reading my book which has spurred an entirely different level of anxiety.  Will they like it? Will they hate it? Is it good enough? I skipped a lot of steps, unknowingly. Was what I put out there good enough to hide those missing steps? I’m almost too scared to ask.
